New Nas "Nigger"

I have finally gotten a chance to sit down and talk a little bit about Nas and this new album. Nas brings the truth to the mic, he always use his fame to sent a positive message to the people! At the jump with the release of Illmatic, Nas has brought a gritty ill style to the art form and has established himself as one of the best rappers to ever touch the mic. With the bold title of “Nigger” Nas has dropped another bomb on the hip-hop community and continuing the pattern of others with the use of “Nigger” Ol' Dirty Bastard’s 1999 Nagga Please album N.W.A's Efil4zaggin, Gravediggaz's Niggamortis renamed 6 Feet Deep, Tim Dog's Bronx Nigga and Yella's One Mo Nigga To Go and Heather B's My Kinda Nigga. Nas’s album continuing on from “Hip Hop is Dead” paints the picture of hip hop today and the effects it has had on people as well as shedding light on the history of the art form. This album was long overdue, I truly fans will listen to the message in the words and change the train of thought among the public.

This is one of my favorite tracks on the album along with “Here Comes Escobar”:

Music in Interesting Places

Last year I watched “A Visit to Ali Farka Toure” a documentary about a guitarist from Mali West Africa. In the film, he records in some interesting places, not your normal studios. His favorite spot to record was in an auditorium in some ancient West African ruins. Even in the film you can hear how cool the sounds were in this old structure, it was as if it were built for music! I recently came across a similar situation:

in NY David Byrne created a musical instrument using a building. He found an old building and used an organ along with motors speakers and magnates to create an instrument using the sounds caused by knocking on different parts a the building. It is hard to explain. You just got to peep it for yourself!

I haven't learned how to create links so copy and paste. you got to drag far on this one because it is a long link.

Shake it Like a Polaroid Picture!

Recently a friend sent me a link to this site. Jamie Livingston took a Polaroid picture everyday! It is interesting to follow his life through his photos. Form the photographs it appears he was interesting. He was very serious about this urge to document each day of his life with a picture. And the days when he was unable to find a good shot he just took a picture of the date. These pictures take you through the good and bad part of his life. It is an interesting story and you learn a lot about this guy through his photos. After the first year you will be attached. Peep it for yourself!
